Peel and Stick Wallpaper and a Staircase Makeover
Welcome back to The Secretary Cottage! I have spent the past few weeks moving actual furniture into The Secretary Cottage - hurray! However, we are far from done with the reno! Here is a quick video on the project that I only just completed. This was a total facelift of our stairwell and upstairs landing.
The walls are very old and have layers of old paper on them. I believe that eventually we may need to rip them down and put-up new drywall, but for now the best solution was to apply a peel and stick wallpaper right on top. It really covered up the old walls beautifully and I love the look!
The application process is not as easy as one might think. You have to (of course) align the pattern as you go along, but the stickiness of the peel and stick paper is not easy to manipulate. Once it hits the wall, it is stuck and requires you to continually peel it back off and realign it, compared to being able to slide it around to align it when the paper uses glue. Our walls are also not level and add that to the fact that I decided to adhere it to a stairwell with high ceilings and you realize why this project has taken me weeks to finish!
Take a look and I hope you like it!
